Located in a heritage shophouse along Joo Chiat Road, Maya & Co. Puppies was conceived as a pet shop where visitors could connect comfortably with the dogs in a homely setting, a calm retreat from the bustling street outside. We begin our design with a Tiffany-blue façade, a nod to the famed jeweller’s iconic hue that adds a hint of sophistication.
Given the long and narrow layout typical of Joo Chiat shophouses, we helped the client plan the flow and use of space. A cosy retail area at the front features a custom counter clad in light green mosaic tiles and warm wood shelving, leading into a sitting zone where guests can relax and interact with the dogs.
The glass-fronted grooming studio allows customers to see their dogs being groomed. The softly curved pantry counter next to the studio complete the space with repeated light green mosaic tiles, creating visual continuity and a calm, cohesive atmosphere.
The interior throughout is bathed in ambient lighting and accented by two art-deco-inspired chandeliers that lend a subtle touch of elegance.
Finally, we end off the retail experience with a powder room that follows a similar Tiffany-blue hue as the facade for refined continuity, and diagonal black-and-white tiled flooring create a playful contrast.
